USS Pensacola Collection, 1885-1887.

The collection consists of the manuscript journal of Admiral Samuel R. Franklin aboard USS Pensacola (Captain George Dewey commanding), describing its recommissioning and voyage to Europe as flagship of the European Squadron. Included in the volume are clippings from the Baltimore Sun about the voyage and a page from an Italian newspaper showing a map of maneuvers completed at Livorno on July 21, 1887, in the presence of the King.
